Today I am extremely grateful for job interviews!
I never really realized how much going to church and speaking with adults really prepared me for the social aspects of a job interview. I have come to appreciate all of those awkward talks I had to give in Sacrament meeting that generally helped me learn to communicate a thought to someone.
I am so grateful for my education as well, and the fact that it played such a vital role in my life. My education has truly helped shape me into the individual I am now. In fact, with my job interview said and done, I can specifically recall presentations, lessons, books, and other tools that influenced what I said in my interview today.
I feel like I nailed the interview, by the by!
When I came, they had me do a typing test, which was just 10 short minutes of listening to something and then typing out what was spoken to me. Then, the first round of interviewing started. I am grateful that I wore flats because I was so nervous, I would have probably fallen flat on my face.
After the first interview was over, I was escorted to a room where I got to sit in and listen to a phone call from a client. I am so grateful for that experience because I learned ten times more information about the company I was applying to work for than I did during my first interview. It was a blessing in disguise, that is for sure. After that, I was escorted into another room for my last interview, however there were two people interviewing me at once. They were both older men who were distinguished. Both were wearing full blown business suits, had clipboards, and were sitting in leather arm chairs. It was the real deal and their questions were a thousand times harder than my previous interview.
Thankfully I was able to somehow put words together to form a sentence. They asked me very specific questions and I had to think on my feet in order to come up with not only a clever answer, but a meaningful way to approach that answer that would make me memorable.
I feel like it went well. They said that they would call me in a few weeks and let me know what the verdict is.
I am so appreciative of the fact that I even got an interview! Those are ridiculously hard to come by here in Rexburg - the minute a position opens up, it is like the seagulls from Finding Nemo are lining up at the door: "Mine. MINE. MINE MINE MINE!!!!"
I am also grateful for Mac'n'Cheese - lunch of champions.
