(Gr)Attitude; Day Four
12:52:00 AM
These 7 people have put up with me since day one, and I am so appreciative for their love and encouragement.
I got to spend this afternoon with them cleaning their home. Mitch and I really enjoy projects (not that his family is one by any means), and since Mitch's younger brother, Jace (not pictured), is coming home next Thursday, we were helping them set up his bedroom.
We sort of encouraged Mitch's mother to rearrange the bedrooms so that everything could be seamlessly changed when Jace left again for school in January. She took the bait, and eventually Mitch and I were like slave drivers.
We effectively put everyone to work and started working ourselves on tearing down bed frames, moving mattresses, dressers, wooden lockers, and drawers in between 3 bedrooms. The house was slowly becoming more and more dysfunctional as Mitch and I bombarded each room with stuff.
Thankfully, Mitch's mother and his siblings allowed me to go a bit cleaning-nazi and were patient with me while I ordered them around to get things moving. I am a very self motivated worker, and a natural leader, however that doesn't always translate into "nice sister."
Overall, I am grateful for the hard work of my in-laws. I am grateful for the preparation they not only put into sending out a missionary but also being without a son for two years, and the preparation they put into receiving him home again.
I am also grateful that I will get to meet him! Next Thursday will be the first time I've ever seen him in real time. I'm looking forward to the awkwardness, but not necessarily the "so, what do we talk about now?" part.
