Zane is officially 16 months old, which means that he is crazy and rambunctious, as well as able to communicate using words. His vocabulary has exploded in the past month. It is crazy to speak to him and have him comprehend exactly what we are saying, whether it is to close something, or bring us something, or help us out. He is just soaking up words right now and it is amazing to see each new word he learns. While he is learning words, he's still not a terrible fan of making animal noises.
Zane is Speedy Gonzales through and through. If he is doing something naughty, you can tell because he will leave the area in a heartbeat if you look at him, which has come in nicely because we can tell exactly where he is being naughty and when. He even says, "naughty" when he is tempted to do something he has gotten in trouble for.
He still poops in the bath. Every. Fricking. Time. It's like his favorite activity. In fact, tonight when he pooped in the tub, he turned around, squatted down, pointed at his fresh poo, and said, "that's naughty," and then shook his finger at it. It was adorable but also terrible. Ahh, parenthood.
Master Zane is also discovering how to do new things each day. He loves to help us in the kitchen and feels so extremely satisfied when he gets to help us stir something, even if it is hand over hand. He has helped us make many a recipe the past month because he's figured out how to work a stool and sort of just demanded that we let him help. I'm all for teaching child labor and chore-slavery early, ya know.
He is still so extremely tall and muscular. He's got about 3 inches on his cousin that is a week older than him. Zane loves to gives hugs. His towering frame just sort of sloths onto his cousin's little chunky frame and Zane gave him a sweet little pat on the back before throwing him to the ground... so he's got half of it right.
Also, on our annual Christmas tree hunt, Zane found out he could eat snow. He ate snow off of car tires, he ate snow off of trees, when he fell down, he ate some snow before picking himself back up again. The whole shebang. Sounds like we are going to have to learn the color yellow super quick for an all-important conversation concerning yellow snow.
There is so much that Zane is doing right now that I can't even think of what is new and what isn't. It seems like every day he has acquired a new skill or a new word. Currently, his favorite words are: apple (any fruit is an apple), naughty, and treat.
