No official pictures again this month, but in my defense, if you could get Zane to stop and slowdown for long enough to get a good little portfolio, my hat goes off to you. If you could also lessen my work-load and help me to remember things like this on a random Tuesday, you would be my personal hero.
Zane is 19 months old and has grown up so much since Christmas. In all honesty, he's really got this little curious personality going for him and every day I am surprised by how smart he is! He knows about 20 animal sounds and can identify the animals they go with by picture. One Sacrament meeting, he opened a book and shouted, "DEEEEEEER"even though it was a picture of a moose. Then, for the rest of Sacrament, he made deer noises, which I am not quite sure how to phonetically spell to share with you here. He is constantly making animal noises and it is adorable!
My little guy still loves horses and dogs, and now he pretends to share his food with them... or if they are actually close enough, he does really share his food with them. He's turned into quite the sharer as of late and will even give up french fries to his cousin, so you know that is real love right there.
One of his newest obsessions is to put on socks. Whatever socks he can find. AS MANY AS HE CAN FIND. One day I came home to find that he was wearing my socks, so I casually pulled off the pair to find that there was another pair on under that... and then another... and another. He had put on 6 pairs of socks and was walking around like he had little casts on his feet. When he takes them off, he does full-on grunts and growls until every sock if off and separated.
Lately, Zane has also started wanting to go to the bathroom on the toilet and shower in the shower. He is trying so hard to be just like his daddy! We are ecstatic about the toilet, but he is also carrying off Mitch's keys and wallet whenever he gets the chance, so that we could do without.
Before now, Zane never really had any interest in watching TV or movies. The longest we could sit him down to watch something was about 5 minutes, so there was absolutely no relief during the day other than naptime. That is until we visited my dad and little brother, Max. Zane was introduced to the Minions and now a real obsession has started brewing. He somehow found a pair of his aunt's pajama pants that had minions on them and now he carries them around and tries to put them on himself every chance he can get. A simple trip to Walmart is now filled with "Min-ins! Min-ins!" because they are everywhere. Is there any relief? I'm just glad it isn't Calliou or Thomas the Train, but I'm also not about to drop any money on Minion fruit snacks or toys. The struggle is real.
Overall, Zane is talking up a storm, stringing together words like a mad man, and being adorable and witty at every turn. He's also started rubbing and scratching people's backs, so you know we are milking that. I look at the pictures we have of him recently and can't help but see his baby-ness is quickly fading. It is heartbreaking but exhilarating at the same time. I can't wait until he's running around saying, "Watch this, mommy!" or asking me to participate in his pretend play. But I also could do with a few more snuggles and deep baby-coma sleeps.
