(Gr)Attitude; Day Seven
2:11:00 PM
I have an incredible amount of things to be grateful for today. Most of them are future events that I am already feeling appreciative of.
The place that I applied to called me again!
They said that it would take them a week to a week and a half before they would call me, but they sure enough called me this morning saying that they were very interested in hiring me but that they needed to do a reference check first. I had only listed one reference, my current employer who is currently getting her Master's degree. Since she is so busy with schooling and raising 4 children, she didn't answer. Thankfully the company called me at like 8:00 this morning to find more references! I quickly called a few people who I had in mind to offer me a reference just to let them know they would be getting a call.
I am so grateful for the people who said that they would be my reference. I am grateful for their honest opinion and their willingness to take time out of their day to talk about how great I am! (:
I am also extremely grateful that the company was taking the time to call me as well. I seriously feel this much closer to a job!
This phone call, although it didn't promise me anything, made me feel so appreciative for the job I have now. Admittedly, I have been feeling a little lazy and a bit resentful towards my current job because of some previous events (namely a tenant calling me and telling me that everyone he had ever spoken with thought I was a horrid manager and they just didn't have the courage to tell me to my face - I ranted about it in an earlier blog post).
I guess the excitement and appeal of another job, one just as hard working and time-consuming made me feel much more appreciated. I am grateful that the phone call sparked that self-determination and motivation I have. I got a ton done today that I had been putting off because of my anger towards that tenant.
I am also glad that I no longer feel anger towards that tenant. Maybe it is because he finally moved, but I think it has more to do with the fact that somebody has shown me appreciation for the work that I am doing - enough to offer me a job for it (I hope!).
I am also grateful for Mitch's first Mission President, who put together a last minute mini-mission-reunion tonight at Pizza Pie Cafe. It was great to see return missionaries and have them recognize Mitch. Hearing the kind words and funny memories they had with my husband made me appreciate the fact that I get to experience those with him every day.
Last but not least, I am grateful for the Wood's Family and the fact that I kicked their trash at Rummikube, one of my favorite games of all time.
