This month, Zane gracefully became a big brother and he has been rockin' it! He loves Troy and is very sweet with him. I was completely worried about how Zane would handle this new mantle in life, but he has done so well! In fact, he hasn't taken out any jealousy on Troy... yet. We will keep our fingers crossed. He loves stealing Troy's pacifier, trying to put the pacifier in Troy's mouth, and tuck Troy in with blankets. He's so attentive it is a mix between a good thing and a bad thing - we'll see if Troy needs lasting therapy from Zane's big brother antics.
ZZ has also gotten really good at his burns. For example, after I had Troy, Zane said, "Mommy! I want to hold the baby!" and when I went to hand him Troy, he said, "No mommy! Not that baby! This baby!!!" and he pointed to my stomach. Thanks, kid. Another time, Mitch was shaving and Zane said, "Daddy shave? Mommy shave beard, too! Mommy! Come shave!!!" Parenting is quite the humbling experience.
The movie repertoire in our household has also expanded. Zane used to never watch TV but recently fell in love with the Minions movie, which he calls "Baby Gru". It was quite the relief when we introduced him to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and The Lego Movie. The funniest development is that now when he doesn't know what a person is called, he calls them "Meatballs". The Angel Moroni on the temple is Meatballs. Strangers in the store are called Meatballs. We have no idea why he associates Meatballs with people because of the movie, but I guess it is better than what he could be calling people.
Zane has also started to request songs for us to play on our phones. His favorite songs right now are Disturb's "Sound of Silence" and Judah and the Lion's "Take it All Back". He also enjoys "Everything is Awesome", but we try to avoid that one.
Zane gives the biggest smooches and hugs this month and he seems to always wake up happy. Potty training is still an adventure, but we are getting better. His vocabulary continues to expand and his favorite new words are "mouse pad" and "keyboard". He's learned how to make demands while playing, and his imaginative play is just through the roof. His toys eat dinner, climb walls, and he builds houses for them out of other toys. He is really starting to develop the beginnings of an imagination and it is so fun to hear him play with anything he can get his hands on. The other day, he grabbed a washcloth and tucked his toy Gru night-night with it.
Zane is happy, healthy, and so stinking smart it is unbelievable!
