Birthday Parties, Foosball, and Cheesecake

11:56:00 AM

This was right after he said "I'm confident in Jesus!" haha (:
I had asked him to not drive so closely to the car in front of
us and apparently that was his way of making me feel alright.

The hubs and I started off our weekend right; we went to visit our families!

My mother had her birthday on the 13th and Mitch and I had an Olive Garden gift card that needed using up (Now that I look back on it... we probably should have given her the gift card) and some shopping to be done!
Essentially, we use our trips down to Idaho Falls to our advantage!

Mitch and I try to not buy any groceries in Rexburg because it is one HUGE inflation bubble. Walmart here costs more than Albertsons in Idaho Falls. We quickly realized this when we went to the Rexburg Walmart, purchased a third of what we would normally, and still ended up spending the same amount we would spend at Winco in Idaho Falls for triple the amount of food.

When we got to Idaho Falls on Saturday, we stopped in to see my sister, Ana, who just recently got back from a trip to Alaska! She was on one of the canning crews for the fishing in Alaska. It unfortunately ended early due to global warming.

After our quick visit to see my long three-whole-week lost sister, we went to visit Mitch's family.

His family was making plans to go to a drive in movie (I swear there are other things to do in Idaho on a Saturday night!) Mitch and I decided we would most definitely go to the drive in movie with them! Despicable Me 2 was playing and you really can't pass that one up! (After watching the movie, I would say pass it up, but at the time I thought of the adorable little minions calling my name).

Before the movie started, we decided to go out to dinner and use our gift card. Olive Garden has a 2 for $25 deal going on; well actually, I'm not sure if there a time limit on the deal. I am a starving college student so a deals a deal! We got 2 delicious meals and a dessert all for $32 with a tip! Mitch ordered a Ziti, which wasn't very tasty, but he loves cheese so he was in heaven. I ordered a Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo which always does itself justice. Afterwards we shared a slice of Raspberry Cheesecake!

Starving College Students no more!
With our bellies full, we left for the Drive In! This time we hadn't really planned anything or brought any blankets. I was wearing a maxi skirt as well! Thankfully my Sister-in-law, Ciara got my text "Chanco, I need to borrow some sweeeeaaaats." and brought me the comfiest pair I've ever worn. I'm seriously debating telling her I lost them and handing her a $5. She also brought a ton of blankets and we all bundled up in the back of my father-in-laws pickup. He bought us all popcorn, sodas, and corn dogs which were delicious but too much after our fancy feast.

Despicable Me 2 was okay. It was cute, sure. But even the 6 year old in our group knew what was going to happen within 3 minutes of the movie starting. It was completely predictable and the plot line seemed sort of thrown together just for the sake of having another movie. They could have very well summed up the movie in a few minutes but instead took an hour and a half for Gru to realize he loves a girl he has been working with the entire movie. In a tragic turn of events they get fired from their job and she is going to be relocated! BUT WAIT! She gets off the plane, helps Gru save the day, and they get married. Not terribly clever, which is sad when the first movie was absolutely adorable!

After the Drive-In, we went shopping at Winco and then left for home. The very next day, we went to Church and then came back into town for my Mother's birthday.

First we stopped at Mitch's families house.
We hadn't spent very much time with his siblings for a while and played a quick round of Foosball. My team won - of course- and I had to take a victory picture! But my jealous brother-in-law Cache, the Loser, was being a poor sport and gave me bunny ears. Sadly, my only retribution is to call him Cache, the Loser, on the internet (:

We spent some more time hanging out with his siblings who told us all about their summer and the farm work. They just got a new puppy named Kamri who is the most darling little thing in the world and of course we heard all about her and the kittens that Mitch's father found abandoned in a field and had brought home.
Mitch's father is a very tall, very broad Mountain Man who you probably wouldn't want to be alone with. It is always surprising to me how much of a softy he is!

After the visit with my in-laws we left for my Mother's birthday party. Turns out she wasn't even home! Apparently we screwed up another birthday and she was out buying her own birthday cake!  I apologize in advance to my future children - this will more than likely happen to you too.
While we waited for my mother to come home, Mitch, Abbi, and I played a Sorry card game. I must have been on a lucky streak because I won the first round! I got to spend some quality time with Miss Madeline, my sister that has cerebral palsy, and Mitch and I spent some time laying out on the trampoline.

My mother had a wonderful birthday. She went to Jackson Hole on the 13th and got to spend the entire day pampering herself. The night that Mitch and I came to visit her, we had a delicious dinner of smoked chicken in my step-dad's Smoker he got for Father's Day, and went around the table talking about what we appreciate most and love most about my mom.
Again, let me reiterate that we are horrible with birthdays: Mitch's birthday was in March. His half birthday is now closer than his actual birthday, but for some reason my mom thought that it would be a good way for us to make up his long-lost birthday party by going around the table and saying what we love about him most too! It was very sweet and I am glad that my family is so horrible; I especially loved watching Mitch's face light up as he got those extra pats on the back.

Afterwards, we enjoyed oreo ice cream cake, cupcakes, and lounging on the back patio catching up. It's strange to say this, but I have seriously missed these people. I never thought I would want to go back to my parent's house so badly, but somehow Mitch and I find ourselves over there almost every weekend... Maybe this is why I never get any laundry done?!

Thanks for stopping by!
