That One Time Where I Told Everyone Zane Was 15 Months When He is Actually Only 14 Months

And this last one, in case you thought Zane was always photogenic.
Zane at 14 months is a chicken-whisperer in training. He loves being with the chickens and will try to make chicken sounds whenever he sees them. Before we clipped their wings, we had chickens roaming all over the yard and Zane was in heaven. Just wait until he sees what happens when winter comes and the chickens stop laying eggs...
At 14 months, Zane is walking all over the place. He can climb onto furniture, climb off of furniture, and get into everything and anything he wants. I've successfully taught him how to roll onto his tummy and slide off of things, so he has also mastered sliding off of our king sized bed, going down stairs, whatever he wants really. There is no stopping him now when he is on a path of terror, unless we put him into his crib. He still hasn't figured out how to escape from there yet. But if he is my son, and I guarantee you he is, he'll be escaping out of that (and the house in general) in no time.
Zane loves all sorts of food and probably eats enough to feed a small village. He eats so much that some nights he finishes our food. He is still just as giant as ever, so we are hoping that his new addiction to food leads to some more skin on his bones. Thanks to grandma, we've successfully gotten Zane off of the bottle to go to bed! Woo! This is probably the biggest and best accomplishment of this year! No buck teeth for us!!!
Zane has some molars popping up and soon will have all the teeth necessary to really get down to business when it comes to eating dinner. Right now he's being slowed down by his inability to chew off entire mouthfuls and swallow immediately. He unfortunately has to stop and work at his food for a little while before being able to swallow. The shame. Once these molars come through, there's no telling what lengths he will go to when it comes to eating. With the right mindset, I'm sure we could have a champion eater on our hands. Japan, watch out!
While his personality is a mixture between rambunctious and scavengery, Zane has become pretty sweet the last few weeks. He will now snuggle with his blanket, carry around toys and love on them (before throwing them as hard as he can and saying, "uh-oh"), and even snuggle on us! And you guys, he is really snuggling! No more of that "I'll-pretend-to-snuggle-you-just-so-I-can-bite-you" stuff! But real snuggles! No biting involved! It melts my little heart! He smiles when he sees us, brings us toys when he is playing, and has taken a real affinity to certain toys in the house.
Lately, Zane has also been experimenting in his playing. This last week, he came out of nowhere with a finger puppet and was just bouncing it along on his finger as he walked around. Another day, he found an airplane and was flying it through the air and making 'vroom' noises. When he starts thinking that doing the laundry is a good game, I'll be sure to update as well.
He knows where his mouth, nose, and belly-button are, and he especially loves the belly-button. He will lift up his shirt to get a good ol' finger in that bad boy. I'm worried he's going to really give himself an outie with how much he picks at the thing when we ask him where it is. He is signing "more" when he eats, but unfortunately has developed a new love for screaming at the top of his lungs.
Lastly, Zane is transitioning well from our move. He is really adjusting better than we could have hoped for. This last semester of school is going to rock all of our worlds and I am so grateful to know that my little guy is resilient enough to handle whatever gets thrown at him, be that 5 different babysitters in a week, staying in his pajamas all day, eating stale goldfish that we found at the bottom of the diaper bag, you know the drill. A special thank you to everyone and anyone who has helped us out or who will help us out this semester! You are all amazing and we couldn't do it without you!
