My Men Like Their 50 Cals

This weekend, the National Guard that Mitch belongs to had an open house for families to come and see what they have been doing and working on. It was Mitch's first day back in Idaho, so we were really excited to go and see him in his element. Zane absolutely loves all things military, and it's led me to think that patriotism is just engraved into these people's bones. 

Mitch loves to show Zane all of his toys and the 50 cal machine gun was no different. Zane probably played with this bad boy for a good 20 minutes before moving onto the next cool toy. Mitch was admittedly very proud that Zane was so smitten with the machine gun. Must be the sign of a true Holt. He definitely handled it better than Henry did, let's just put it that way!

Mitch won an award this drill for Outstanding Achievement, which we are so proud of! He is truly amazing and gets so much done for this little family of ours! I am grateful for him through and through. 

It looks like I'll be having two enlisted men here in the next 18 years, that is, if Mitch can convince me to let him stay in after his 20 years are up! Zane was mystified by the howitzer and I'm pretty sure he would live in that bad boy if he could.
