Birthday Bash!
1:43:00 PM
I was very blessed this Birthday to not only turn 21, but to spend it with my favorite people!
On my actual birthday, my wonderful In-Laws took me out to dinner at the Hickory! It's a delicious BBQ joint here in the Burg. Cheap too! I ordered a burger whose bun was made out of two giant grilled cheese sandwiches. Heaven. On. Earth.
My Mother-in-Law knows me too well. The Holt's gave me a $50 gift card to Joanne's Fabric, which I then spent as quickly as I received it and a gift card to TJ Maxx! At Joannes, I bought a weapon of mass destruction, also known as a Rotary Blade (I've already cut myself thrice) and some Wall Decal Stickers!
I have just a slight obsession with Wall Decals...
I walked through Joanne's about 6 or 7 times trying to decide how to best spend my money. I thought I had already reached the $50 limit and didn't want to spend any money out of pocket, but surprisingly, they were having a %50 off one regularly priced item sale and so I still have $17 left on my gift card! Hopefully round 2 of choosing something will take less time.
I'm really happy with the Rotary Blade though! I'm like inching myself towards quilting...
The Wall Decals are also really cute! I am pretty much in love with them now. Also, don't mind the dream catcher. We aren't hipsters - my husband served an LDS mission on the Navajo Reservation and brought a Dream Catcher home with him. He's so kindly put it up in our bedroom to... catch dreams?
I then spent Thursday with some great friends. I wanted to serve "drinks" because it was my 21st Birthday, so I served "Mocktails"! They are delicious, non-alcoholic drinks made from fruit and juice or soda. I found recipes to get a feel for what ingredients I needed, but I mostly made up the drink concoctions on my own!
We had a Mango Mock-O-Lada that I made from Mango's, Lime Juice, Pineapple, Coconut Milk, and Strawberries. We also had a Mint Ice Cream Mocktails with chocolate dipped rims! I made it by blending Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream together with coconut milk and even more chocolate. We also had Grapefruit Coolers made from Grapefruit Soda, Strawberries, Orange Juice, and Lemon juice. I had a ton of other drinks planned but ran out of time before guests started arriving. We played "31" rather than "21" and then this really game called "What If, Then".
On Saturday, I spent the day with my family! My parent's had a 50's themed dinner for my birthday, including milkshakes, curly fries, tater tots, and deliciously mouthwatering burgers.
My parent's bought me a Fondue Maker!!! My entire childhood, my best friend's family would make Fondue all of the time and invite me over. I'm pretty sure I had fondue at least once a month. They made meat, cheese, and chocolate fondue each time and I literally GORGED myself on it all. I could eat fondue cheese and bread for life! The texture is amazing but the wait for everything to be prepared is killer.
My parent's also bought Mitch and I some towels because we have utterly lacked good towels our entire marriage! Before, we had one set that someone got us as a wedding gift that we coveted. Seriously, if someone was in the shower, the other person would call dibs on the good towel!
Melodramatically, I think it would have been one of our greatest issues during any marriage counseling haha! Thankfully! We've got not 1, but 6 brand new towels! It's as if I've died and gone to heaven, ladies and gentlemen!
They also purchased us other bathroom goodies such as some potpurri (trying to send a message??), a bathroom rug, and a cute little trash can. My bathroom went from cheapest stuff at Target to really cute the instant we got home.
Mitch also purchased me a gorgeous camera bag for my Nikon and a 32 gig SD card. I've been "brushing up" on my non-existent photography skills!
Getting a picture like this is a serious feat when Henry is like the tiny ball in the pinball machine.
We are not pregnant. I just took pictures for someone that is.
Again, we are not pregnant. I just took pictures for someone that is.
Last time, we are not pregnant. I just took pictures for someone that is.
Bonus Picture!
Here's a look at my editing skills! I'm ridiculously proud, okay?
