Unlucky 13

Master Zane is 13 months old and with that came a whole lotta trouble! This little stinkah has learned how to walk, and it has been quite the adventure. Zane thinks it is very fun to open cabinets and drawers, has acquired a taste for his dad's deodorant, which he somehow finds almost every single day, and is tuning his skills in shenaniganry.
Zane is getting so big it is scary! He is quite tall for his age and is a brick. It's interesting to see how he used to not really care what the other kids were doing and now he wants to play with them and be involved in everything they do, much to their dismay. I have to get used to calling him a toddler for real now. Calling him my baby is really throwing off his appeal to the older kids.
Zane's favorite foods are scrambled eggs and blueberries. He would be perfectly happy if his diet consisted only of these things, but he is actually a terrific eater of all foods. The only things he really doesn't like up until now is peppers (the sweet kind you put into salads... he likes the hot kinds). He loves to eat, loves his high chair, and loves to eat whatever we are eating. If he thinks he is being slighted in any way when it comes to food, you can bet there is going to be some growls. Oh yeah, he still growls.
He loves to dance, play with rocks, and is finally out of the "put everything into my mouth" phase. His favorite toys lately are measuring cups because he thinks they are so naughty to play with and tubberware lids, for the same reason. Opening up drawers has instilled in him a love for rebellion. It is funny to watch him when he thinks he is alone. He will take a lid out of the drawer, analyze it, put it back in the drawer, and grab a new one. Rinse, repeat. If he knows he is being watched, every single stinking lid is coming out of the drawer in 5 seconds flat, to then be scooped up and thrown all over the kitchen before I can pick them all up. Again, the little stinkah.
Perhaps his most favorite activity lately is unfolding the laundry that I have already folded. It's like his eyes light up and a demon possesses him in one fell swoop. He loves to snatch the laundry and wave it around like a victory flag, just out of my reach. Thankfully he's not too quick yet so I can snatch it right back, sometimes equally possessed, sometimes bubbly - depending on how many naps he's refused that day.
My favorite part of this age is that even though he loves to be independent, there is still that little piece of him where he will crawl into my lap to sit down for a book. He loves to be read to, and it's one of my favorite parts of the day. Thanks Zaney-roo for still digging your mom, cause I sorta dig you too.
