12 Month Old Berry Vagabond

9:58:00 AM

Zane is 12 months old and boy, oh boy, is he getting bigger by the minute. He still isn't walking, but he is cruising up a storm. The faithful leap of taking his first step alone just seems to be evading him. He's got all the right moves, but needs to figure that out still.

He had his very first airplane ride and he LOVED it. I've never seen him happier than when he was staring out of the plane window and pointing at the clouds. Okay, maybe I have seen him happier, but at 5:00 in the morning, it seemed like a miracle. He especially loved shutting the window and opening it back up.

Zane is a very chill toddler. He enjoys eating, watching people, and combining the two. We can't take him out to a restaurant without him flirting up a storm with the people around us. Just the other day we had some man come up to us at dinner and he thanked us for letting Zane be so independent and vocal at the restaurant because it made his night. Zane loves making faces at people and charming them with his half-smile, half oh-are-you-looking-at-me? flit of the eyes. He's really got it down already. Hide yo' girls.

Zane is still his happy little self, wanting to explore the world, ignore mama's guidance, and get into all sorts of shenanigans. He loves water, dirt, rocks, and animals. He points at every dog he sees and I'm stretching here, but I think dog could very well be his first non-baby word because he loves them so much. We go on walks daily (Pokemon Go, ayoooo!) and he loves seeing all of the flowers, dogs, and trees. He's constantly pointing at them and trying to leap out of the stroller to get a hold of them. He also has a fascination with slugs, which are aplenty here in Washington. He loves picking berries right off of their stems and eating them too. A few weeks ago, he picked one of my mom's prized tomatoes she's managed to keep alive and popped the entire thing right into his mouth. He especially loves blueberries and blackberries and has a knack for finding them when we are out and about doing whatever outdoorsy thing we do.

He follows every boyish tendency he gets, from eating dirt, to trying to wrestle, to laughing when he farts.

And boy, oh boy, do we love him.

See Zane's 11 month photos here.

Thanks for stopping by!
