Happy New Year!

1:41:00 AM

This time last year, we had just announced we were pregnant to the world. This year, definitely not! However, it is that time of year when something is in the water because everyone is doin' it: posting New Years resolutions.

Last year, I made the goals of being more frugal, furthering my education, showing Mitch my love and appreciation, preparing myself for the bundle of joy that was going to come, and remaining healthy while pregnant. I can say 60% of the time, I completed my goals every time.

This year, I've decided to make more specific goals because last year my goals were too broad to be successfully acknowledged.

Here are my goals for 2016:

1. Read to Zane every day.

2. Take a "keepsake" photograph every single week during 2016.

3. Be consistent at posting on the blog. This bad boy is pretty much my online journal. There are things I've gone back and looked at that I completely forgot happened. Like this, for example. Who knew I was that skinny once?

4. Do something once a week just for me. Becoming a mother has completely shifted my priorities and there are times when I feel like I have lost myself - to the point where my parents refused to buy me gift cards because they knew I would spend them on Zane. Once a week, I want to paint or draw or take a bubble bath or watch a movie just for me. Being a mother is extremely rewarding. Recognizing myself and having some alone time will ensure I don't get burned out.

5. Stay in contact with my family. This past week, I saw six of my cousins that I haven't seen in five years. One of them got married, joined the navy, moved to California, and had a baby. The other is seriously dating a girl. I learned both of those things... three days ago. I want to be better at checking in on my family and letting them know how my sweet little family is doing.

6. Declutter. Declutter my life and declutter my belongings. There are too many things I've been holding onto that I should have thrown away forever ago. For example, these 18 empty LEGO boxes that I've been holding onto for some reason. They are empty. They have been empty for years. I finally let Mitch burn them yesterday in a moment of clarity. I'm hoping more of these moments will happen in 2016.

Those are my goals for 2016! Hopefully I will be much more successful at them than I was with my 2015 goals!

Happy New Year!

Thanks for stopping by!
