General Conference

4:30:00 PM

This weekend, my sweetheart of a hubby and I made the long trip all the way to Idaho Falls. We had packed enough clothes for three days, (and by clothes, I definitely mean pajamas) and left right after office hours.

Now, for most people, conference weekend is a weekend of close listening, reading the scriptures, writing in journals, and napping. However, at Sutton Manor, it is so much more than that.

General Conference at my parent's house is a blast. It's a gourmet feast. It's family time. It is wearing the same pair of pajamas for two days straight. It's massages and foot spa's. It is spiritual feeding as much as it is physical feeding. And let me tell ya, my family is great at eating!

My family is sort of a mixed bunch when it comes to the church. We are either Converts or not members of the church in any respect, and yet we all sit down and listen to the words of the modern day prophets and apostles. My step-father, who has no plans of being baptized, is a better listener than anyone else I've ever met. He knows their voices. He learns their names. He even studies their lack of facial hair and amass of wrinkles. Despite his comments of, "When is this guy gonna kick the bucket so Uctdorf can become prophet?" he pays attention and remembers what each "old guy" says.

General Conference at the Sutton Manor is the best General Conference experience I've ever had.

Our conference feast consisted of cowboy dip, pita bread, spinach avocado dip, humus, salsa, strawberries, grapes, cantelope, apple slices and caramel. We had chips and veggie trays, cookies, pie, cheesecake bites, chicken salad sandwiches, little weenies, and delicious breakfast food.
And we seriously ate almost all of it - in two days 6 people ate enough food for an entire buffet.

My absolute favorite part of general conference was President Monson's Sunday afternoon address. As I sat beside my own sweetheart, I couldn't help but tear up; the Prophet spoke with such love for his recently passed wife and now that I have someone I unconditionally love, I was caught on every word.

I loved getting to spend time with my family for an entire weekend. It's so strange; I couldn't wait to move out and get married and yet I still love going back to have sleepovers with my siblings.

Henry is a blast: he dresses himself completely now and he decided to grace our presence with this sweet attire.

We think it's because he has been spending too much time with his grandpa...

I got to watch a ton of movies with my sister, Abbi. We had a massage train and she even tried to cut my hair and convince me to dye it. Thank goodness I'm so broke or else I'd be a raging blonde right now. She is just too convincing!

After conference on Sunday, Mitch and I went to the farm to knock down some overhanging branches before they grew to large. We took a four wheeler ride and got to play around on the farm. I forgot how much I missed farm work. College and apartment complexes aren't really that fun - and that is saying something, especially when you are comparing it to farm work..

Overall, Conference was a success! I absolutely love the time spent with my family and I'm pretty much in love with my sweet husband. I can't wait for the General Conference Edition of the Ensign to come so that I can re-live it all over again!

Thanks for stopping by!
