An Update on the Hubs

Good ol' Idaho desert

My sweet husband has been gone for 2 and a half weeks now! It's been a pretty lousy experience not having him around 24/7! I was just starting to like the guy (;

He has really been enjoying the whole "man's weekend" part of his annual training with the military. I think he gets a little testosterone deprived living in a house with me and all of my hormones and craftiness. I don't even have good cooking to make up for all of the weird shenanigans he has to deal with! He gets to text me every once in a while, but the phone calls are far and few between. Reason numbers 1, 2, and 3 of why I am dreading the next week.

While I am not overly thrilled, I knew he was excited when he went out and bought a cooler just for AT - not for alcohol, but for all of the soda and junk food he was planning on purchasing while he was able to play the "I'm working 18 hour days" card. I'm pretty sure AT is costing us more money in junk food than it is bringing in!

Last year, Mitch proposed to me on a Saturday. 5 days later, he left for AT for 2 weeks and then went immediately to Salmon, Idaho to fight fires for a month. Let's just say, AT and I aren't on the best of terms ever since it took away my brand-spanking-new fiance and is now taking away my sweetheart of a husband.

I decided to take just a minute to post all of the cool pictures he has sent when he has had enough service. He has been kind enough to remember how much I like pictures, I figured I'd better do something with them.

The nasty army stache is apparently happening in this picture and I don't like it one bit (his eyebrows are hairier than his mustache and all that can make me think of is "pervert").

Him in his sleeping bag at 1:00 am. He was trying to show me a better picture of his peach-fuzz-of-a-mustache.

My sweet husband also received these military coins; one for being Soldier of the Day and one for Excellence and Hard Work. Mitch now has 8 or so military coins. Apparently, back in the day, whoever had the lowest ranking coin would have to buy everyone drinks or cigarettes. Now they are used as a sort of token to show your standing in the military or to award a soldier. Each token is individually numbered to make sure that they can keep track of who was awarded what because it's such a big deal.

Mitch has 4 days left at AT and I cannot wait to see him!!
