Memorial Day VayCay

This handsome guy and I had the opportunity to travel for Memorial Day Weekend. We decided we wanted to get out of town and do something before Mitch had to leave for more military training.
It was such a nice relaxer to get out of Idaho, get away from our job and schooling, and just have fun.
On a side note, I now have a better appreciation for my parents paying for us to vacation just about every year. These dang things are expensive! I can't even imagine going and having to buy things for a third person!

Prepare yourself. There's a picture dump coming.

This weekend, Mitch and I did some amazing things that we have been wanting to do, but were never quite practical where we were. We started off our vacation by driving down to Utah and checking into our hotel followed by a prompt Taco Bell run.

I have decided to boycott Taco Bell since. They are now charging $.50 for "extra" meat on your taco, when in all actuality, the "extra" was the amount of meat you had before the price increase. At first I thought it was just Rexburg being Rexburg, but have sadly come to realize it is all Taco Bell's, everywhere.
I mean, I could actually taste lettuce in my crunch wrap supreme. MADNESS.

The next day, Mitch and I decided that we weren't going to have a better opportunity, and so we purchased a new computer! I'm so excited for it get here! It has all of the new specs and features that we wanted!!! I'm a huge gamer, so this was pretty much Mana from Heaven for me.

After we purchased our computer, we went to the lovely Thanksgiving Point Gardens and rented Segways!

Going to the Gardens gave me a great opportunity to whip out my camera and give it some practice. I also learned how to drive a Segway and have decided that when I am rich and famous, I will purchase a Segway and ride it around everywhere. Even to the bathroom.

After we went to Thanksgiving Point, Mitch saw a Cabella's. The poor man has never been in a Cabella's before, so we decided we had better make a pit stop. It's kind of like a crime against humanity, him never going to a Cabella's before.

We also went to the Lego Store and my dreams came true for the second time that day. Mitch and I got to create Minifigure versions of ourselves AND I got to pick-a-brick!

Mitch is a money-winning Motorbiker and I am an online college student. Hip, Hip, Hooray...
I loved the Lego store. Seriously, best use of our time, ever. I was totally in awe.
The only part that was kinda iffy was when the cashier said, "Oh, who are you buying these for?" and when I replied, "Myself." she just kinda looked at me like... 'okay, freak, are you allowed near children?'
At least my husband accepts me for who I am!!!

After the Lego Store, we were absolutely exhausted and went home to swim and sleep at our hotel. The next day, we went to the Hogle Zoo!

Right when we got to the zoo, the keepers were starting their rounds to feed all of the animals. Mitch and I got to see all of the animals up close and personal while they were being fed. It was the coolest experience. I never realized how giant lions are. When they stand on their hind legs, they are much taller than humans! I definitely would not want to be their zoo keeper. I also got to work on some of my photography skills since the animals were so close the edges of their cages.

One thing that saddened me was how lonely all of the animals look in the pictures. It was really heartbreaking, actually. I'm not a huge activist or anything. I truly believe that zoo's can be educational and are for the most part great, but seeing the animals so sad was so heart wrenching.

We ended the trip by quickly visiting Temple Square the next morning and then driving home. It was absolutely beautiful. I can't wait for our next vacation, but my wallet can!

Thanks for stopping by!
