If It Would Just Stop Raining!
1:36:00 PM

This fall has been absolutely crazy. It is raining one day and then the next is all sunshine and 80 degree weather. I've pretty much had enough of making plans and then having a flash flood 5 minutes later. On the bright side, Rexburg has finally stopped being a ghost town! This does mean that going to the grocery store for a loaf of bread now takes 30 minutes, but I am happy to actually see moving people and cars.
Mitch and I, of course, had an eventful past weekend, or should I say two weekends? I'm not very good at staying up to date with this whole blogging thing.
Mitch and I started last weekend off right by spending a gift card over at Applebees. We were seriously the only people in the restaurant for the entirety of our meal. We took it upon ourselves to not only try all of the new lunch courses they had on the menu, but to also try some of their delicious boneless wings, AND every single flavor of lemonade. I would recommend the Mango, Peach, or Pomegranate flavors. Really, all of them are delicious, but those three tasted like Peach/Mango Rings that you buy at the gas station, and we all know that those are the best things ever made (now you can enjoy them in liquid form)!
We also went and shot a bunch of guns. Surprisingly enough, Leslyn, the only other woman that went with our entire group, outshot EVERY SINGLE man there! It was crazy how good she was!
I got to shoot a silenced pistol too! It was like I was in a James Bond movie for an entire afternoon (although I could use some work on my groupings).
This past weekend, Mitch and I decided to hop in our truck and go camping! We decided not to pack a tent because we figured we could always sleep in the bed of our truck as long as we brought along enough warm blankets and some padding.
We drove down to Willow Creek, where Mitch has been camping before, with the high hopes of going frog hunting! We probably searched for frogs for an hour or so before it started to rain. Seriously, one drop of rain fell onto my face, 5 seconds later, one drop fell onto Mitch, and then all of a sudden, CRASH! BOOM! It started storming and there we were, trying to camp without a tent.
We tried to wait out the storm, but figured it would probably be best to go to one of our parent's homes since we couldn't light a fire and/or sleep in the bed of our pickup like we had planned. Funnily enough, I am sort of glad we had to leave (other than the fact that it stopped raining RIGHT as we pulled out of the campsite). We went to my parents house and ate a ton of food and then went to bed early. We were able to sleep in, we weren't eaten by bears, and even though there weren't any frogs at my parent's house, we got to enjoy playing card games and lounging around.
The next morning we woke up and set off for some tree house shenanigans. Mitch's younger brother, Gage, just had his birthday and wanted us to help him build a tree house. We came up with a design and set to work nailing things in and testing the weight of things. Seriously, Mitch and I should just become architects.
We had gotten pretty far with the tree house when we got a call that the family's puppy was lost while hunting. Funnily enough, the puppy had jumped out of the hunting truck about 20 miles away from where Mitch and I had tried camping the previous night. The un-funny part; that meant the dog had about 20 miles of empty mountain-y/brush/forest-y area to get lost in.
We hopped into our car and raced to where Rodney, Mitch's father, thought that Camri might have escaped at. It was around 7:00 when he called us, and with the drive, we were starting our search and rescue only minutes before dark.

With dumb luck and faith, we actually found the dog. Mitch and I had been driving and I saw something brown move as our headlights traced the road. The poor dog was miles away from where Rodney thought he had lost her. She was so scared that she shook the entire way home, which took extra long because one of the rescue team's car got a flat on the way into the mountains and we had to backtrack to help them put on the spare. We not only found the dog within the hour, but saw some Moose as we were coming in. It was the first time I had ever seen a moose (alive, that is)!
It was seriously a great testimony builder, even for a 20 year old girl that thought she knew everything. With a quick prayer and and an even longer prayer in our hearts we still set out to find the poor thing. It was honestly a miracle that we found her. I hate to admit it, but I was angry that we had to go look for the dog. Not only because the "dumb thing" had jumped out of a moving car, but the fact that everyone had to drive for 45 minutes before we even got anywhere close to where she was. I was convinced we wouldn't find her and that we would all be wasting our time and gas trying to find a puppy in brush that was taller than she was. Thankfully the Lord listened to the other nine among us that would have continued looking for days had we not found her that night. I'm glad that my husband made me suck it up and put on my big girl pants to go look for the dog. It was a sweet experience and I was definitely humbled with the knowledge that with God, anything is possible; even finding a puppy in the mountains.
The run-a-way wouldn't leave my side the entire night as we tried to work on the tree house in the dark. She made herself a little bed on the lawn mower even. When we pulled up to the house she wouldn't get out of the truck. When we had successfully dragged her out of the truck, she ran away and hid underneath another car too.
She's a cute thing, but a rascal.
We haven't finished the tree house yet, but there is always this weekend! So far, September has been GREAT!
