Fine Fancy: Lacrosse

I had my second lacrosse game for BYU-Idaho's competitive league this Saturday! It has been an absolute blast to not only play with these girls, but get back into the game!
For those of you who have never seen a lacrosse game, or even a lacrosse stick, I strongly urge you to take a look at some youtube videos!
I have never come across a sport that was funner, as fast-paced, or even as sportsman-like as lacrosse. I would recommend it to anyone that was even curious. Lacrosse is not an expensive sport either. You can find cheap lacrosse sticks for around $30, balls for $5, and goggles for $10. BYU-I actually has the option of renting all of the needed equipment, other than a mouth guard, for free!
I would even recommend it to parents that are looking to sign their children up for a sport. The items listed above are equipment that can and will last for years as long as you aren't wanting to purchase aesthetic based gear. It is a great, family-friendly and budget friendly sport!
Some highlights of the game:
Every girl on my team (pictured above) had a chance to not only play, but actually PLAY. None of the girls stood on the field just playing a position. Everyone had the opportunity to handle the ball and actually be involved!
The new girls actually LEARNED! We only have 4-5 girls on our team that have played before. It's awesome to see everyone stepping up and teaching the girls, on our team or not, about the sport. It is definitely a sport that comes quickly, however there are still so many things that can be added on and refined for higher quality performance - just like any other sport.
We had 3 injuries in the game. This isn't typical for those of you afraid of hurting yourself. One injury consisted of a girl falling down and needing to take a 5. The second injury was the lacrosse ball was thrown into the goal, however the goalie blocked it... with her head. The last injury consisted of a girl falling near the goal, but nothing worse.
I made a goal! I've always played defensive before, so I can honestly say I haven't even tried until Saturday, however the first time I played attack (offensive) I scored!
Again, I would strongly recommend any one to go sign up their kids or even themselves for a lacrosse league. One summer will not only get you or your kidlets back into shape, but it will be the most exciting, rewarding sport you have ever played! It will only take the first game for you to realize how much you love the sport!
