17 Months Old and Busy, Busy, Busy

Zane is 17 months old and extremely busy! He's been gearing up for Christmas by unwrapping a Christmas gift each day that Grandma Sharon sends as a advent activity. So far his favorite thing he has unwrapped is this Christmas tree decoration with a light box attached to it with a wire. He likes to hold onto the wire and swing the tree around as if he is extreme yo-yo-ing or playing with nunchucks. 

This month, Zane's vocabulary has exploded! He can tell you what sounds animals make, he can tell you where a ton of body parts are, and he is just shockingly picking up anything and everything we say and thankfully they are all good words! 

Zane's favorite things right now continues to be horses and dogs. He loves horses and likes to pretend that he is feeding horses apples because we fed a horse one apple one whole time and now apples and horses just categorically go together... forever. 

Zane has four new teeth coming in, his canines. He has always liked to bite but now he is busily munching away on whatever he can find. He also loves to wear Mitch and my clothes. He will grab Mitch's hats and put those on, try to wear my shoes, all of that fun stuff. Its made for some wonderful pictures that we are definitely saving for high school graduation and his first girlfriend. You know the drill.

As we've been packing up our house, Zane has actually been very interested in everything that we try to put away. Oh, this toy you've never been interested in? Now that it is in this particular box, it is the most interesting thing in the world! And his love for playing in empty boxes in general has just exploded. It reminds me of me when I was a kid because we've probably got more pictures of me crammed in boxes than regular, smiling pictures. 

Zane is no longer pooping in the bathtub and gets to go to nursery on Christmas Day! These are probably my two favorite milestones of this month! It's a little sad how excited I get when we take him out of the bath and he hasn't pooped! It's as if I've won a marathon - but I wouldn't really know how that felt. I'm assuming they are equally thrilling. 

Zane's love for helping us cook continues and he helped me to make cookies the other day. He may be a rascal, but didn't even think of trying to eat the dough, so he's got some serious learning to do when it comes to cookies. He also loves watching things as they bake in the oven. We've tried teaching him when things are hot, so he will randomly do this breathy "hhhhhhhhhhh-ot" whenever he is near something hot. Then he will try blowing on it, which results in him just spraying all over it, so our oven has needed a good wipe down after our baking adventures.

Zane is so excited for Christmas and has loved the time we've spent with family! We can't wait for him to open his presents Christmas morning and see his excitement at all of his new toys and books! 

Sorry there aren't many pictures this month! Finishing up school, graduating, packing our house and moving in one weekend, and then leaving for Montana the very next day has left me exhausted and pictures have been the last thing on my mind!
