These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

There is nothing quite as wonderful as seeing Zane's curiosity lead him to do amazing things. Brandishing a stick, crawling through tunnels and laughing, Zane is unstoppable at the park. I absolutely love these quiet experiences where we can just get lost in watching our son explore, not really worrying about anything but making sure we create freeze frames of every single second in our minds.

One particular freeze frame I have imprinted so tenderly is that of Mitch showing Zane the ropes - how to be the most rascally little guy at the park, what everything is and does, and how all of it can be used to the advantage of an adrenaline junkie. The precious little whispers and snippets of, "And do you see that?" that I had the opportunity to eavesdrop on filled me with warmth and pride. I love my boys and I love the dad I see in Mitch now at every turn. Careful, yet excitable, just waiting until Zane can whisper back, "Let's go, daddy!" or "What's that?" on to the next mysterious, thrilling adventure.

I had to save these pictures somewhere: Zane getting to experience absolute freedom from me for even just 10 minutes and instead spend it with dad, lost in that same freedom as he learns just how crazy and adventurous his daddy can be. Oh we are so glad when daddy comes home!

It also warms my heart to think of Zane using the stick like a wand, since we are listening to the Harry Potter books together (; but, I digress.
